"DINNER WITH A VIEW. FROM THE FIRE TO THE TABLE" is a series of culinary experiences arranged at one of the most beautiful polish locations – by the Narew river, by the Baltic sea and in a Western Carpathians mountains. The project was initied by Ewa Malika Szyc- Juchnowicz, one of the most charismatic women in Polish gastronomy. She was nominated for Female - Chef 2015 By Gault & Millau and was a finalist of the first edition of Top Chef Poland. Malika is fascinated by fire and associated cooking techniques. Together with invited outstanding chefs, who were inspired by local products, she made dishes according to seven cooking on the fire techniques.
We were invited by KUKBUK magazine to create a set design for this unique events. Nature was the inspiration for all the elements of this culinary performance. Local context expressed in colors, textures and aromas, created design sets with a strong sensory qualities. A common motif for all of 3 dinner was a tablecloth created by the Fenek Studio in a pattern that suggested a reminiscent of ash traces, as a referral to cooking on the fire.

Mini-landscapes made out of up-cycled scrap stones with varying structure, form and colors, created the table set design. Hand- dyed tablecloths in a silver spruce color and a fresh green fir tree branches hanging from the ceiling fulfilled the installation. Chairs of each of the guests were lined with sheep skins (traditionally sheeps are bred in a polish mountains area). After the dinner guests could sit on bundles of straw in the KUKBUK relaxation area

Behind the scenes

THE RIVER
Narvil Hotel, Serock

Coal and ferns were the primary motive for the table set design. Waiters were wearing black gloves and aprons in an “ash” pattern (made by Fenek Studio). The ceiling was entirely covered in ferns and the coal installation was a living scenography for serving dishes.

Guest chefs: Ana Roš (co-owner and chef Slovenian restaurant "Hisa Franco"), Witek Iwański (chef restaurant "Aruana" in the hotel Narvil)

THE SEA
Hotel Wellness Spa House, Jastarnia

Various shades of blue proved to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Hand-dyed tablecloths, stones covered with ultramarine pigment, ceiling covered with long stripes of hand dyed cotton sails created a truly sea side atmosphere. Branches bleached by the Baltic Sea, were a noble decoration of glass vases. Off blue colors of plants decorations were referring to the sea dune flora.
